From prenatal classes to postpartum support groups to one-on-one lactation consultations — East Bay Birth & Lactation supports families in Berkeley, Oakland, and across the East Bay, from pregnancy all the way through weaning. Most services are covered by insurance.
Community is human. It can be hard to build community into our modern lives and that lack of community can be especially hard as a parent, especially when you are a new parent figuring it all out. Building a community of other new parents with babies the same age can be very validating as you move through all the joys and challenges of those first years. Preparing for birth and early parenthood can also give you a ton of confidence as well as having a group of people to WhatsApp in the middle of the night when your baby won’t sleep. That’s why East Bay Birth & Lactation offers classes from pregnancy through the first years.

Child Birth Education

Child birth education prepares you with all the info you need to be ready for the birth of your baby as well as walks you through all options you will be presented with how you would like your birth to be from your provider to what relaxation techniques might work best for you.
Preparing for Baby
Three class series: learn about lactation, new born care and postpartum preparation while beginning the journey to build community with other expectant parents. Covered by most insurance or sliding scale if not covered.
Lactation support group (1-4 months)
Come connect with other parents over these very early struggles and joys. Get out of the house, weigh your baby and ask any lactation or new baby related questions in this IBCLC run group. Covered by most insurance or sliding scale if not covered.
Lactation support group (3-6 months)
As your baby grows new questions arise that still require support and connection. This group focuses on more common topics that come up for older babies, introducing solids, going back to work, sleep and more. Covered by most insurance or sliding scale if not covered.

East Bay Birth & Lactation’s focus is on providing a warm inviting and accessible space to build community and feel supported during pregnancy and parenthood. Most of life’s transition happen gradually over time, puberty, menopause, etc… parenthood happens overnight. It’s a huge change in your life and having support of peers and professionals by your side can smooth this big transition.
All classes and groups are designed to be accessible to all regardless of income, either covered by insurance, sliding scale or donation based with no one turned away for lack of funds.
